On 5 January, the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission launched a new call for proposals for the EU-US Atlantis Programme. The call is structured according to the three types of actions of the programme:
• Action 1: Transatlantic Degrees aims at providing support for the creation of partnerships between EU and US higher education institutions to develop and implement dual/double or joint degree programmes.
• Action 2: Excellence in Mobility grants funding for projects that deal with international curriculum development, directed towards the short-term transatlantic mobility and not directly associated with joint/double degrees.
• Action 3: Policy oriented measures provide support to multilateral EU-US projects and activities meant to enhance collaboration in the fields of higher education and vocational training.
The general aim of this call for proposals is to promote and enhance the understanding and cooperation between the European Union member states and the United States of America, with an emphasis on language and cultural exchange as well as on the improvement of human resource quality. The programme functions on a co-financing basis, with a joint financial contribution of both the European Union and the US.
Budget: the total EU contribution amounts to EUR 6.44 million (the budget is action specific)
Deadline: 7 April 2011
