This Call for proposals is organised under the framework of European Union actions to strengthen cooperation with industrialised and other high-income countries and territories. In recent years, the network of EU Centres has expanded significantly and the 2012 Annual Action Programme will focus on strengthening the EU Centres network in Canada, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan, and tentatively, Singapore.

This Call is open to universities or other institutions of higher education which must be established in the concerned partner country/territory (see above) in accordance with the national legislation. The project partners must all be established in the partner country/territory or in the European Union in accordance with national legislation.

There are five separate lots under the call (one for each country) with four types of objectives outlined for each centre:

• Outreach
• Academic
• Academic exchanges with the EU
• Coordination with other EU Centre programmes
