On 30 December 2011, the European Commission’s Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency published a new call for proposals under the Erasmus Mundus 2009-2013 action programme. Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility programme in higher education, designed to enhance the quality of European higher education and to promote cooperation with third countries. This call for proposals aims to support projects under all three actions of the programme, namely: 

• action 1: Erasmus Mundus Joint Programmes (action 1A: Erasmus Mundus Master Courses and action 1B: Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorates); 
• action 2: Erasmus Mundus Partnerships (STRAND 1 for partnerships with countries covered by ENPI, DCI, EDF and IPA instruments and STRAND 2 for partnerships with countries and territories covered by the Industrialised Countries Instrument); and 
• action 3: Promotion of European higher education (supporting projects that enhance the attractiveness of European higher education).
