Broader horizons for the second round of Erasmus Mundus

Following a call for proposals opened in February 2009, a total of 63 new master’s and PhD courses have been selected to run under the second phase of the Erasmus Mundus programme (2009-2013), starting from the 2010-2011 academic year. The new courses involve 296 universities from Europe and 70 partner universities from around the world.

Since it began in 2004 up to the 2009-2010 academic year, the Erasmus Mundus has allowed over 7800 students and more than 1600 scholars to take part in the programme. An important new addition, starting from 2010-2011, are the 13 Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorates, which involve 65 EU universities and 12 universities from outside Europe, and offer fellowships for up to three years of doctoral studies. It is also the first time when universities from outside the EU can participate as full partners.

A list of the new Erasmus Mundus Master’s and PhD courses can be found on the European Commission’s website.
