This volume brings together the paper contributions prepared to mark the 20^th anniversary of the Bologna Process, as presented at the dedicated conference that took place on 24-25 June 2019, in Bologna. Together, the contributions answer to the overarching theme of the conference, namely in what way can universities be trustworthy communities of teaching and learning for a sustainable future for all citizens of our very diverse societies?

Specifically, the publication contains all keynotes of invited speakers on the five sub-themes of the conference:

• Academic and related civic values in changing societies;
• Student-centred learning;
• Providing leadership for sustainable development, the role of higher education;
• The social dimensions of higher education; and
• Careers and skills for the labour market of the future.

It also incorporates selected contributed papers on these themes, some of which were already presented at the conference. Last but not least, the volume includes reports of five roundtable sessions composed by the students that organized these sessions.
