Mr David Rome is the new Chief Executive Officer at the Australian Vice-Chancellors’ Committee (AVCC). He will occupy this position for
the first half of 2007. As AVCC is currently in the process of creating a new company, Universities Australia, a new Board of Directors will take up office in June 2007.
Mr Rome has significant
experience as a senior administrator in the university sector. In the early 1990s, he worked as Business Manager of Murdoch University and from 1996-2005 he was the Vice-Principal of Administration at the University of Wollongong. In addition to his service in the higher education sector, Mr Rome has worked for the
Commonwealth Government –
most recently as a Senior Executive in Administrative Services and earlier in Foreign Affairs, National Development and Energy, and the Office of the Commonwealth Ombudsman.
