On the occasion of its 10
th anniversary, the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) launched its
new Database on Education Exchange Programmes (DEEP) in Singapore on 13 April 2007. Bernd Wächter, Director of ACA, was one of the speakers at the launch celebrations.
The DEEP is an online portal on universities, student exchanges and scholarships in the ASEM countries and aims to promote greater awareness of study opportunities and to encourage academic mobility between the Asian and European member countries of ASEM. ACA contributed considerably to the database. It provided ASEF with detailed data on scholarship programmes and scholarship providers for mobility between Asia and Europe.
ASEF is the only permanent physical institution of the Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM). It is located in Singapore and promotes greater mutual understanding between the peoples of Europe and Asia through closer cultural, intellectual and people-to-people exchanges. The ASEM is an informal (but organised) process of dialogue and cooperation between the member states of the European Union and twelve countries in South Asia and South-East Asia, as well as the European Commission.
ACA would like to congratulate ASEF on its first ten years of valuable work, and it looks forward to continued close cooperation.
