The objective of the programme is to encourage the development of the Higher Education in Latin America through the cooperation between the EU and the Latin American institutions, in order to contribute to the sustainable economic and social development of the region as a whole. Networks of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) as well as other relevant institutions in the area of higher education are invited to prepare applications for grant funding under the new programme on higher education cooperation for Latin America. Projects will include three components:

1. Joint Partnerships of European and Latin American higher education institutions (Lot No 1)
2. Structural Projects that aim at creating mechanisms to promote the modernisation, reform and harmonisation of higher education systems in Latin America (Lot No 2).
3. Accompanying Measures, i.e. horizontal activities to promote the programme's visibility and results of approved projects (Lot No 3).
