The overall objective of this call is to strengthen the quality of adult learning in Europe, in particular through improving the professional development of "adult learning practitioners", and making their profession more attractive in Europe. The study is complementary to the call for tenders EAC/09/06 concerning “Trainers in Vocational Education and Training – key actors to make lifelong learning a reality in Europe” (see June issue of the ACA Newsletter Education Europe). As such it is expected to focus on the “educators” and staff of non vocational adult learning, while pointing out to the inevitable and numerous overlappings that may exist between this broad category and that of trainers in continuing VET. The contractor for the present study is invited to take account of the findings of the work carried out under call for tenders EAC/09/06 which will be made available to it by the Commission, in order to provide a coherent and complementary picture of the situation of adult learning staff in Europe.
