Active April for GREET: kick-off meeting and SAR Global Congress

The GREET project (Guiding Refugees via European Exchange and Training), run by the ACA Secretariat, DAAD and EDUFI was officially launched in April. The members of the GREET consortium, Advisory Board and representatives of the European Commission met on 11-12 April in Brussels to discuss and prepare upcoming project activities.

The first and major one this year will be a Peer Learning Activity (PLA) in Brussels on 24-25 September, which is to bring together around 30 participants from national-level organisations (NAs, ENIC/NARICs, university networks, etc.) and higher education institutions (HEIs) in the 9 countries covered by the project. The PLA will serve to share good practices in the integration of highly skilled refugees in Germany and Finland, and to discuss in smaller thematic groups existing integration challenges at institutional and national level, as well as opportunities for enhancing European cooperation and creating synergies among existing initiatives.

On 26 April, ACA Policy Officer Marija Mitic presented GREET in a panel at the Scholars at Risk Global Congress in Berlin among the ongoing EU projects supporting the integration of refugee students and scholars. The message in the panel and overall, among participants at the event, was clear – more information sharing and cooperation among existing projects is welcome and much needed in order to achieve maximum impact in supporting academic and labour market integration of highly skilled refugees. Therefore, the GREET team invites organisations involved in similar initiatives/projects to get in touch!
