ACA’s next European Policy Seminar “Mobility-migration nexus: policies, practices, discourses and evidence” will take place on 9 November in Brussels.
This ACA seminar will raise the always topical questions on the relation and mutual impact between international migration and mobility by analysing highly skilled migration and academic mobility from different angles and looking into the links (or lack of them) between related policies, practices and research. Relating to internationalisation of higher education, public diplomacy and development cooperation, this field of permanent contingency requires continuous engagement of a multitude of stakeholders. Looking into both voluntary and forced migration, we will discuss how countries attract and retain global talent, how recruitment and retention are supported at the EU and national level, and how and to which extent the potential of international talent is being (mis)used.
The event programme is designed for higher education institutions, national and EU policymakers, national-level agencies and scholarship providers, organisations supporting highly skilled migrants, employers and all other stakeholders interested in practice and evidence on highly skilled migration. The seminar will offer an opportunity to exchange practices and get updates from policymakers, learn about the latest research on international mobility and migration, discuss how different actors can work better together and what is needed for more effective multi-stakeholder cooperation.
We look forward to welcoming you on 9 November in Brussels!
