ACA welcomes the return of the Hungarian Tempus Public Foundation (TPF)

In December 2013, the Hungarian Tempus Public Foundation (TPF) (re-)joined the ACA family after some five years of absence. ACA members warmly welcomed the return of TPF, which marked the 20th country represented in ACA’s 28-member network on the 20th Anniversary of ACA.

TPF, a not-for-profit organisation according to Hungarian law, was founded in 1996 and has its main seat in Budapest. It acts as the national agency for the European Union’s Lifelong Learning Programme and is designated to continue in this function under the future Erasmus+ scheme. Further, it hosts the ‘national information point’ for the Tempus, Erasmus Mundus and Europe for Citizens programmes; it coordinates the (central European) CEEPUS scheme; it is the Hungarian ‘Europass Centre’ and it is responsible for the country’s Bologna and ECVET expert teams.

Additionally, the organisation plays a key role in providing information about study opportunities in Hungary as is actively encouraging, on various fronts, the internationalisation of Hungarian higher education. It provides mobility scholarships for about 15 000 persons per year. It is, right now, developing an instrument for the evaluation of international activities of the country’s universities. ACA is involved in the development of this tool.
