28 German universities secure funding under EUI national support programme

In a move to enhance Germany's participation in the European Universities Initiative, ACA member, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has allocated further funding to 28 German universities through the European University Networks (EUN) programme. The initiative, which aligns with the broader European agenda, is part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen academic collaboration and support German HEI’s on their way to becoming European universities.

Starting in January 2024, the fourth funding round of the programme has earmarked approximately 20 million euros for the selected universities. This financing, made possible through the support of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), is set to complement existing EU funding until 2027.

Since its inception in 2020, EUN program has played a crucial role in aiding German universities towards the coveted status of European Universities. The cumulative budget of the national support programme has now reached a total of 37 million euros, underlining the commitment to developing academic excellence and cross-border collaboration.
