Around 20 participants from across Europe and beyond came together for an intensive training designed to respond directly to the needs and challenges higher education institutions face when advancing inclusion and diversity within Erasmus+ in the framework of the DiEM Peer Learning Community in Berlin. This marks the beginning of a Peer Learning Community that will continue to meet online throughout 2026.
From designing targeted support measures and inclusive communication strategies to discussing policy approaches within Erasmus+, the programme created space for honest exchange, practical experimentation, and collective learning. A recurring theme throughout the discussions was the importance of working across institutional boundaries and alongside students themselves, as partners in shaping more accessible, equitable mobility opportunities.
To explore DiEM’s resources, have a look at National Approaches to Inclusion and Diversity in Erasmus+ which examined how the Inclusion and Diversity priority is being implemented by Erasmus+ National Agencies under the 2021–2027 Erasmus+ programme. For practical guidelines for inclusive mobility support to higher education institutions staff check out Strengthening Mobility Support for Students with Fewer Opportunities: Guidelines for HEI Staff. Finally, Inclusive Access and Participation in Erasmus+ Mobility report examines the current state of access and participation in Erasmus+ mobility opportunities, focusing on identifying key barriers and challenges faced by students with fewer opportunities, understanding their motivations for participation, and evaluating the effectiveness of existing support systems.
