2024 was an eventful year for the Academic Cooperation Association (ACA), filled with important accomplishments and meaningful initiatives in the field of international higher education. In a year marked by significant political changes, ACA focused on supporting its members and the broader education community. Highlights included celebrating the 20 years of the Erasmus Mundus programme (for more details, see ACA Newsletter – Education Europe, May 2024), contributing to discussions on the future of the Erasmus+ programme and engaging in focused discussions on key topics in European and international higher education with member organisations through the ACA Thematic Peer groups.
ACA's success comes from its dedicated members and the expertise they share. In 2024, the organisation hosted events that brought people together for discussions on how to advance international education, including the annual ‘’What’s New in Brussels’’ seminar (for more details, see ACA Newsletter – Education Europe, January 2024), a conference focused on ‘’Strategic approaches to Erasmus+ Staff Mobility’’ (for more details, see ACA Newsletter – Education Europe, June 2024), and a members dedicated only event, the Strategic Summit focusing on ‘’Strategic planning, enhanced advocacy and leadership development – national agencies’ updates’’ (for more details, see ACA Newsletter – Education Europe, October 2024). ACA also welcomed new leadership this year and made efforts to strengthen its governance and operational structures, reinforcing its role as a key player in European and international higher education.
Projects were also a key focus in 2024, with initiatives such as HIBLend (see ACA Newsletter – Education Europe, November 2024) and Study in Europe 4 (see ACA Newsletter – Education Europe, June 2024), addressing blended mobility and global higher education promotion. The Inclusion ACAdemy series (see ACA Newsletter – Education Europe, October 2024) provided vital training to help institutions create more inclusive mobility programmes. These projects reflect ACA’s ongoing commitment to supporting institutions with practical tools and collaborative opportunities.
Having entered 2025, ACA is ready to build on the progress made in 2024. This year will focus on continuing current projects, launching new advocacy efforts, and expanding training and support activities. ACA remains committed to helping its members navigate challenges in the higher education landscape and is eager to work on new opportunities that the future holds.
