Biographical note

Ilker recently graduated from the cultural studies master’s programme at KU Leuven University with a summa cum laude degree in September 2022. He holds a bachelor’s degree with high honours in political science from Bogazici University in Istanbul. His fields of interest lie in the intersection of digital transformation, new media, and intimacy & communication within digital ecosystems.

Prior to his work at ACA Secretariat, Ilker completed a remote internship at the Istanbul Policy Center, where he prepared daily national/international press readers, executed administrative and communications tasks, and co-authored an analysis paper on the EU-TR “Refugee Deal” with Dr. Sibel Karadag. Likewise, he worked as a project intern at KADOC documentation and research center on religion and society in Leuven/Belgium. As part of the “Negotiating Solidarity” project within KADOC, he prepared a comprehensive report on Turkish religious organizations in Belgium, and presented his findings to the team during a seminar.

Ilker speaks Turkish (mother tongue), English, French, German, and Spanish. He is a former cinephile who recently became a Tiktok-phile due to his academic & professional interests. He has also a particular admiration for the Mediterranean flora and landscapes.
