Responsible bodies, initiatives and programmes
The Academy of Finland’s mission is to fund high-quality scientific research, provide expertise in science and science policy, and strengthen the position of science and research.
Finnish National Agency for Education (EDUFI) supports education and training, early childhood education and lifelong learning and promotes internationalisation in Finland. Finland is partnering with the Institute of International Education for different activities in the field of Higher Education in Emergencies. The collaboration includes Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF) programme, which offers scholars threatened or persecuted in their home country the chance to continue their work in a safe environment, the Artist Protection Fund (IIE-APF). The Finnish National Agency for Education co-funds and supports the programme implementation in Finland in close collaboration with the Finnish host higher education institutions. SIMHE - Questions related to the higher education of immigrants and asylum seekers are especially dealt with in higher education institutions responsible for Supporting Immigrants in Higher Education in Finland - SIMHE services, supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Centre of Expertise in Immigrant Integration (Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment) supports the work promoting immigrant integration at local, regional and national level.
