On 22 July, the European Commission launched a public consultation which is to contribute to the upcoming communication on the European Education Area (EEA), originating from the 2017 Communication “Strengthening European Identity through Education and Culture”, presented at the 2017 Gothenburg summit.
The ambitions set in the 2017 Communication, enhanced by the current COVID-19 crisis, aim to build a “resilient, sustainable, innovative and fair Europe”, as stated in the EC roadmap. Towards this end, the EEA is to contribute to improving access to quality education and training, enabling mobility for more learners and creating a lifelong learning culture.
The feedback from the consultation will feed into the previous consultations with education and training stakeholders, monitoring and evaluation reports, existing evidence base and academic literature on all ET sectors. The Communication on the European Education Area is expected in the third quarter of 2020.
The consultation is open until 26 August 2020 and can be accessed here.
