Results of EADTU’s Task Force and Peer Learning Activity on Virtual Mobility

Innovative Models for Collaboration and Student Mobility in Europe - Results of EADTU’s Task Force and Peer Learning Activity on Virtual Mobility (May 2019)

This report is based on new developments in higher education and international collaboration as collected by EADTU’s Task Force and Peer Learning Activity on Virtual Mobility. The result is a report on three types of collaboration mobility: physical, blended and online. The report puts forward a series of policy recommendations at all levels, resulting from a Peer Learning Activity (PLA) engaging a wide range of stakeholders and organised in Maastricht on 12-13 December 2018.

The main conclusions of the report suggest that mobility can be “short and long term, synchronous and asynchronous [and] ICT modes of teaching and learning amplify the potential of education and the mobility related to it”. All these forms of mobility must not replace the others but be complementary and should be offered to students as part of their study career separately or in combination. All networked and joint curricula should include a balanced combination of physical, blended and online mobility which should also be mainstreamed in initiatives such as the European Universities and the EU.University hub.
