Universities UK. Patterns and Trends in UK Higher Education 2012. Author, London, 2012. Pages: 28.
This report presents an overview of the trends in the United Kingdom’s (UK) higher education area in the period of 2001 to 2011. The report includes data on higher education provision, students’ profiles (e.g., domestic and international students, gender, age, subject studied), staff and income. Some of the main findings of this report include the continuous rise in the number of students over the last decade – from under 2 million in 2000/01 to 2.5 million in 2010/11 – and a significant increase of international students studying at UK’s universities. The contribution of higher education to the UK’s economy was estimated in GBP 7.9 billion in 2009, and by 2025 it is expected to rise to GBP 17 billion.
