This report examines the influence of Belgian policy towards international students on the opportunities taken by third-country nationals to study in Belgium. The report concludes that during the last decade Belgium has increased the opportunities for third country nationals to study in the national higher education institutions. Moreover, the report highlights the improvement of the transparency in the education market, the strong increase in student mobility and the emergence of a more selective recruitment policy in higher education institutions. In addition, Belgium has also seen an increase in students from Cameroon and from China, namely to pursue Master, advanced Master or Doctoral degrees.
