UNESCO: The Right to Education: Monitoring standard-setting instruments

In October 2007, the UNESCO Executive Board decided to actively monitor seven priority recommendations in the field of education in line with the 2015 goal of “Education for All”. The new publication “The Right to Education: Monitoring standard-setting instruments of UNESCO” provides details regarding this decision and describes the framework adopted for monitoring countries adhering to the conventions.

The seven recommendations cover issues such as discrimination in education, the status of teachers and adult education. For higher education, recommendations on the recognition of studies and qualifications and concerning the status of teaching personnel are highlighted.

The document is available in English and can be downloaded from UNESCO.
