The German ministry of education and research has published a strategy on Africa in order to provide reliable guidance and a framework of reference for German research, intermediary and other organisations, as well as for European and multilateral initiatives and for the African partners. With its strategy the ministry wants to raise the awareness in Africa for Germany’s education and research sector and to show, with many examples and suggestions, how to enhance the cooperation between Germany and African countries. The strategy is also addressing selected priority topics such as environment, health, bio economy, societal development, resource management, innovation and transformation.

The DAAD has equally set-up an Africa strategy that frames the organisation’s activities in the region. It aims to contribute to the development of quality higher education institutions as a prerequisite for a well-functioning education system and sustainable development.
