EU and Mexico: bilateral agreements on education and culture

Jan Figel', European Commissioner for Education, Training, Culture and Youth, has signed two joint declarations, to strengthen cooperation in education and culture with the government of Mexico. In the field of higher education, the declarations are foreseen, among other things, to bring further benefits to the growing number of Mexican students (450 students applied for the 2009-2010 academic year) entering European universities through the Erasmus Mundus Programme.

The declarations were signed on 11 June 2009. Similar joint declarations in education and culture were recently signed with the Brazilian government, on 18 May 2009 (see ACA Newsletter –Education Europe, May 2009).
