ACA is proud to announce that NAWA, the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, joined the association at the ACA General Assembly on 29 and 30 November 2018 in Vienna.
Founded only about 14 months ago, NAWA has grown in size and responsibility at a breath-taking speed. The government-owned agency has a budget of 30 million Euro in 2018, a figure that is expected to rise as fast as the number of NAWA employees, which currently is already about70. The organisation runs some 25 programmes for international mobility and internationalisation more broadly, in the fields of higher education, but also in science (research). An important area of intervention is becoming the marketing of Polish higher education and research institutions around the world, inclusive of re-attracting Polish scientists currently working abroad.
In next to no time, this fine organisation has left its footprint in the field of international higher education. The writer of these lines cannot remember another case of a newcomer gaining wide visibility in such a short time. We are sure NAWA is headed for a bright future and ACA regards itself privileged to have gained this organisation as a member.
