ACA welcomes International Education Center as new member

At the beginning of June, ACA received a membership request by the Georgian International Education Center (IEC). ACA members were delighted about the application and voted at their General Assembly meeting on 12 and 13 May in favour of the request. ACA is proud to welcome the IEC into its family of members.

The IEC was established in 2014 and has been entrusted by the Georgian government to raise the quality of the country’s tertiary sector by means of internationalisation, thereby contributing to Georgia’s economic and social progress. The organisation also is the preferential counterpart of the government in supporting the best universities to achieve excellence in teaching and research. Furthermore, the IEC is the agency to implement the “Study in Georgia” initiative.

In the period between 2014 and 2017, the IEC has awarded more than 500 international scholarships for Master and Doctoral students, in cooperation with foreign partners. Scholarships for study in France are offered in collaboration with the Institut Français, for study in Hungary with the Tempus Public Foundation (Stipendium Hungaricum), and with the US by means of the Fulbright Program. Still this year, IEC intends to sign cooperation agreements for Ph.D. students with Germany’s DAAD and an Italian University Consortium for Master level programmes. The IEC is also in charge of the implementation of scholarships under bilateral agreements between Georgia and counterparts elsewhere in the world.
