swissuniversities has joined the Scholars at Risk (SAR) network, which currently comprises 400 higher education institutions spanning 39 countries, with the core aim of protecting researchers persecuted for their viewpoints and of preventing attacks on the freedom of scholars.

SAR is an international network committed to fighting violence against members of the academic community across all levels (researchers, teachers, students, management and administration).

By joining this network, swissuniversities testifies to the commitment of Swiss higher education institutions’ to academic freedom and autonomy, while stressing the importance of allowing scholars to perform their research under acceptable conditions. At present, 14 Swiss higher education institutions have already joined the “Scholars at Risk” network.
