Transnational education (TNE) is acknowledged to have significant potential for the internationalisation of higher education systems. Nevertheless, the lack of robust data on TNE activities and enrolments makes a detailed assessment of the impact of TNE a considerable challenge. That is why, in 2015, the British Council and DAAD led a new research project to review the TNE data collection systems in place in ten host countries, and to assess how these systems can be improved. The joint study “TNE Data Collection Systems: Awareness, Analysis Action” was presented in June on the “Going Global 2015” conference in London.
