For the first time, the programme PROMOS that enhances the mobility of German students could send more than 10 000 students to universities in foreign countries. The programme which is financed by the Ministry of Education and Research gives higher education institutions the opportunity to set their own focus on the mobility of students.

(in German) Turkey becomes partner in the international Year of Sciences 2014 The German minister for education and research, Johanna Wanka, and her Turkish colleague, Nihat Ergün, have proclaimed the year 2014 as the German-Turkish Year of research, education and innovation. Main goal is to underline the special friendship between both countries and to foster more cooperation. The press release is available here. A Swiss environmental engineer, a quantum physician from Austria and three physicists as well as one mathematician from the U.S. receive up to EUR 5 million in order to support their trend-setting research at German higher education institutions.

(in German) Twice as much graduates in Germany in 2012 than in 2002 In the university year 2012 413 300 students graduated from a German higher education institution. In comparison to 2002 the number of graduates has doubled. At that time 208 606 students graduated successfully.More information from the Federal Statistical Office can be found here. (in German)
