Freddy Weima is the new General Director of the NUFFIC

On 1 November, Feede Klaas (Freddy) Weima will take his new position at the helm of the NUFFIC, ACA’s Dutch member organisation. 41 years old Weima will probably be the youngest General Director in the history of the NUFFIC. He joins the NUFFIC from the CAOP, the Dutch knowledge and service centre for the labour market and labour relations within the public domain, where he was heading the labour market unit. In that position he worked as director of the Sectorbestuur Onderwijsarbeidsmarkt (SBO), a centre of expertise specialised on educational staff. Earlier, Freddy Weima worked in different Dutch ministries. He is also the coordinator of the Knowledge and Innovation Agenda (KIA), a project intended to put the Dutch knowledge economy on the international agenda and to monitor its global position.

On top of this all, he is also the Secretary of the Stichting van het Onderwijs (the Education Foundation). And, as his personal website reveals, he is a passionate musician.  The man with the sympathetic smile started to play the guitar at the age of 14 and was part of the Frisian-language band Wiegels Wjukkelmasine between 1988 and 1994. In 2010, he came out with his most recent CD, 39 & holding, produced with the group Freddy & Your Old Boys.

Freddy Weima succeeds Sander van den Eijnden, who became the President of the Executive Board of the Netherlands’ Open University earlier this year. ACA wishes Freddy Weima much success and luck for his important job of running one of the world’s most renowned organisations for international cooperation.
