A survey is now open to collect requirements for the development of a new manual on recognition of foreign degrees. Admissions officers, credential evaluators and other recognition experts from higher education institutions in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) are invited to express their needs and voice their expectations.

The consultation is the start of the European Area of Recognition project – a Manual for the Higher Education Institutions (EAR HEI). Based on the current EAR manual which has been recommended by the 47 ministers of the EHEA in the Bucharest Ministerial Communique, the project aims to develop an up-to-date new version over the next two years.

The European Area of Recognition initiative is funded through the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning programme. The EAR HEI is carried out by a consortium consisting of recognition experts from the national recognition information centres and representatives of the European University Association, the Tuning network, the European Student Union, the German Rectors Conference and the President of the Lisbon Recognition Convention Committee. Its ultimate goal is to ensure fair recognition decisions by higher education institutions, which is critical to the removal of barriers to student mobility.

In order to reach as wide audience as possible, the deadline for participation has been extended to 11 June 2012.
