Dorothea Rüland to become DAAD’s next Secretary General

DAAD, the world’s largest scholarship organisation, has announced the outcome of the search for the position of its Secretary General, the organisation’s CEO. The chosen candidate is Dr Dorothea Rüland, currently the Director of the Center for International Cooperation at Freie Universität Berlin.

Dorothea Rüland knows the DAAD from inside. Joining the organisation in the early 1990s, she headed various of its units, ran its Jakarta Office, and was, before joining the Free University, a head of section. She will take office on 1 October 2010, when her predecessor, Christian Bode, retires after 20 years at the helm of DAAD. “I am certain that this is a good decision for future of DAAD and the internationalisation of German higher education”, commented DAAD Vice-President Huber.

ACA congratulates and wishes Dorothea Rüland success and luck.
