Biographical Note

Martin first joined ACA in 2019 as a Junior Editor Trainee, and has since been appointed first as a Policy and Project Officer and then as a Policy and Project Coordinator. In his role, he is responsible for designing, leading, and supporting the research cycle of multiple projects, which involves data collection and analysis, reporting, and communication and dissemination. In addition, Martin chairs one of ACA’s Thematic Peer Groups (TPGs), Inclusion and widening participation in international higher education. He is interested in topics within international higher education such as societal issues,  higher education’s “third mission," sustainability, community development and digitalisation. Martin is the co-chair of the Thematic Peer Group on Inclusion.

Before joining ACA, Martin completed the European Commission’s Blue Book Traineeship in Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) and the NGO Commons Network. In his pre-Brussels life, he taught in an international school and worked with a number of NGOs and media outlets in different capacities, dealing with education, culture and supporting refugees. He has a master’s degree in European studies from the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, the Netherlands, and Jagiellonian University Krakow, Poland, as well as a master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology and Museum Studies from the University of Zagreb, Croatia (accentuated by an exchange year at the University of Lodz, Poland). He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cultural Anthropology and Information Science from the University of Zagreb.
