With the project Equality guide: HR instruments for Equal Opportunities at Universities, VLIR has participated in EQUAL, an initiative of ESF Agency Flanders to promote equal opportunities for job-seekers and employees on the labour market.

The purpose of this VLIR-project is to enhance the flow of women into science and to demand attention for their under-representation in governing functions. Therefore, the Flemish universities cooperated to develop a practical guide for human resources management concerning equal opportunities in the higher education context. Each university wrote a chapter for the Equality Guide, based on a practical study on a specific human resource instrument. The themes are organisation culture and development of staff, career paths, career policy, mentoring, and science communication.

The Equality Guide will be officially presented to the public on April 29.
