In June 2007, the Nordic prime minister initiated a globalisation project for a more prosperous Nordic Region which led to 14 specific initiatives in total, one of which concerns the promotion of higher education. As part of this initiative, the Nordic Council of Ministers set up a relatively large globalisation programme entitled “the Nordic Master Programme” (NMP). This programme has proved to be a successful experiment and it was decided to continue it in a more permanent form. The present report, submitted by the Nordic Master Working Committee, withholds proposals for the future of the NMP, addressing areas such as structure and management, funding, legal and administrative challenges, profile and marketing, as well as quality assurance and practical guidelines.
