European Education Policy Network holds first conference of 2007 series

The European Education Policy Network, a recently launched forum for policy makers and researchers in European education, convened its first conference on 11 January at Cambridge University. Part of a larger 2007 conference series and entitled “Defining the European Education Area”, this event presented a variety of current research on European education developments, divided thematically according to analysis of policy actors, policy-making, and the realisation of such policy in practice. The conference convened over 70 reputable academics and politicians.

The Network’s next event, on 17-19 May 2007, will form part of the Tenth Biennial International Conference of the European Union Studies Association in Montreal. Selected contributions to the series will appear in a peer-reviewed special journal issue in early 2008. In the meantime, papers from the conference series will be uploaded on the Education Policy Network website.

The European Policy Network, established by Ruth Keeling and Avril Keating of Cambridge University, provides a gateway to research in higher education, distributing an e-newsletter, developing online resources, and building its now 200-plus membership base.
