In October, several international higher education agencies published a statement and the report to support mobility and international education after the 2021 International Education Summit. The statement suggests that international academic exchanges and collaboration are essential in ensuring a successful recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic created challenges that go beyond national borders, thus reacting with unity to address common issues such as sustainability and inclusion can only be beneficial to the common good of democracies. Furthermore, the statement highlights the importance of promoting safe academic mobility for students and researchers alike.

The report also includes national reports about the state of higher education in each of the nine participating countries, outlining how the country reacted to the pandemic and how it impacted its higher education institutions and policies. In addition, the reports offer an overview of the plans for the future of international education and cooperation, including innovative approaches such as digitalisation and national offers for remote learning.

The signing organisations are: Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), Finnish National Agency for Education (EDUFI), Campus France, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Uni-Italia, Nuffic, Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (Hkdir), British Council and the US Department of Education.
