What's New in Brussels? Recent Developments in European Policies and Programmes

Brussels, 2 February 2017

The opening ACA event every year is the well-known European Policy Seminar What’s new in Brussels? Recent developments in European Policies and Programmes. So will it be in 2017.

Brussels is the place and 2 February 2017 is the date.

The seminar traditionally takes stock of EU supported initiatives and programmes in higher education (HE), and showcases successful cooperation in HE at national, European and global level. The expert community that this event brings together features representatives of the European Commission, national agencies and internationalisation bodies, higher education institutions, student and alumni organisations, and many more.

2017 is the year of the mid-term review of EU’s flagship programme for education and training, Erasmus+. It is also the year in the course of which the higher education community will mark three decades of European cooperation through the Erasmus programme and two decades of research collaboration within the framework of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). Through the lenses of different stakeholders, the seminar will offer a look into the Erasmus+ landscape three years after its launch and the prospects until, or even beyond, 2020. Participants will have the opportunity to share in smaller groups their experiences with European mobility schemes, partnerships and policy support initiatives. We will traverse the thirty years of Erasmus, its beginnings, development over three decades and state of the art, and also look into the research support that MSCA have provided for two decades to junior and senior researchers in and much beyond Europe. We will address the new Skills Agenda for Europe through an overview of the existing and planned initiatives regarding the revision of key competences, digital skills development and promotion of ICT careers through multi-stakeholder cooperation at national level.

Without doubt and exception, we expect – just like every year - stimulating discussions and valuable exchange while bringing together specialists and novices, sceptics and enthusiasts, researchers and practitioners– all of whom will have something enlightening to give and take during the event. Welcome!
